セント・パトリックスデー アイルランドの祝日であるセント・パトリックスデーに覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールのみんなが緑色の洋服に身を包み登園してくれました。クローバーなどをモチーフにした工作を楽しみ、全身緑のファッションショーをしました。 この祝日には、レプリコーンと呼ばれる妖精は金の入った壺を持っていて、 笑いながら、いたずらを仕掛けいくという言い伝えがあります。スクールでもみんなの持ち物が知らない間に移動していたり、あちらこちらでいたずらされていて子ども達は大興奮でした。とても楽しい一日になりました。       Ducklings students enjoyed celebrating St Patrick’s Day by wearing all green, making themed crafts and having an all-green fashion parade. They learned about leprechauns and how to hunt for golden coins as well!  Some “leprechauns” even visited the school and played pranks on some of the students. We all had a very fun day together!

覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの年少さん(Hummingbirdsクラス)、年中さん(Parrotsクラス)、年長さん(Eagletsクラス)は名古屋市千種区の東山動物園近くの平和公園でネイチャー＆マラソンデー/ Nature and Marathon Day（自然の中で遊ぶ日&マラソン大会）をしました。 子ども達はアウトドア気分を満喫しながら芝生の上で遊んだり、落ち葉を拾ったり、木々や花々、虫たちを観察したり、先生達と一緒に自然の中を歩いたり、走ったりして丸一日を楽しみます♪ 生徒達は約1㎞の距離をタイムを測り走ります。走っている時に転んだお友だちもいましたが、すぐ立ち上がり最後まで走り切ることが出来ました。お友だちが走っている姿を応援し合い、全員が完走することができました。みんな、とてもよくがんばりました！！！速い生徒さんはなんと4分台でこの距離を走り抜けます。 マラソンの後は待ちに待ったお昼ご飯の時間！みんなで芝生の上に座りピクニック！ その後はおにごっこをしたり、草や落ち葉を集めたり、昆虫探しをしたり… とっても楽しかったね！！また秋に戻ってくる日を楽しみにしていようね！！   On a beautiful sunny autumn day our Hummingbirds, Parrots and Eaglets classes gathered at a running field near Higashiyama Park for a fun Nature and Marathon Day. Ducklingsクラスの子供たちは、英語の歌を歌いながら無邪気に踊ったり、絵本のお話を聞いたり、粘土遊びや、公園で走り回ったり、お散歩に行ったりと、などさまざまなこと毎日楽しんでいます！　 子供たちはお友達同士で仲良く遊ぶ中で自然と英語で言葉やコミュニケーション能力を身につけながら、この年齢のお子さんにとって大切なスキルの１つでもある“fine and motor skills”（思考が必要な細かな能力と体全体を使う能力）も上げ、日々成長を見せています！ Hummingbirds（年少クラス）になる時にアルファベットを読んで書くレッスンが始まる為、その準備として最近ではアルファベットの本をみんなで読んでいますよ。 Ducklingsの子供たちが毎日、満面の笑顔でスクールに来てくれることが本当に嬉しいです。                                                          Ducklings have so much fun at school. This month it was “Disguise Day!” All the students and teachers came to school in weird and funky designs such as glasses, hats and mustaches. This month has been busy for the Elementary classes D and E. Elementary D have been reading about ancient societies while learning how to decide if the purpose of the text is to inform, persuade, or entertain the reader. They then used their imaginations to create paper mache masks that might have been worn in the past. Mean while, Elementary E have been working on grammar exercises to help express themselves clearly when making predictions about the future, as well as describe what people could or couldn’t do in the past. 12月になると毎年開催される覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの恒例イベント クリスマスコンサート2017が今年も開催されました。今年は名古屋市港区にある港区文化小劇場を貸切り、覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの幼稚園部に通っていたただいている全てのお子さまに参加していただきました。夏の終わりくらいから練習に励み、ご家族やお友だちの前で歌やダンスの発表をしました。 1歳～2歳児クラス(Hatchlingsクラス)のみんなはとーーーても可愛い小さなサンタさんの姿に、2歳～3歳児クラス(Ducklingsクラス)のみんなはキュートな雪だるま姿になってくれました。初めての舞台に緊張して泣いてしまうお友だちもいましたが、みんなで歌やダンスの発表をすることができました！！！ 今年の年少さんクラス(Hummingbirdsクラス)はとても素晴らしく、クリスマスキャンディーのステッキを使い、スキダマリンク/Skidamarinkとロッキング アラウンド ザ クリスマスツリー/Rockin’ Around the Christmas Treeを披露してくれました。 年中さんクラス(Parrotsクラス)のみんなは『大きなかぶ』を演じてくれました。大きなかぶを引っこ抜く代わりに、クリスマスツリーを引っこ抜く！というオリジナルストーリーで、みんなを楽しませてくれました！！！ そして年長さんクラス(Eagletsクラス)のみんなは『ピーターパン』を演じ、パイレーツ ライフ/Pirate’s Lifeとトライ エブリシング/Try Everythingを歌ってくれました。Eagletsのみんなは一生懸命練習に励んでくれて、クリスマスコンサートのオープニングとエンディングでもスピーチと歌を披露してくれました。 覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールでは毎年エレメンタリーコース（卒園生及び帰国子女対象コース）でスピーチコンテストを行っており、その優勝者にクリスマスコンサートでスピーチを披露してもらっています。今年も2人の優勝者にスピーチを披露してもらいました。コンサートの最後には生徒と先生が一緒にダンスをして、コンサートのフィナーレとなりました。 この日の為に一生懸命練習してくれた子供達、サポートしてくださった保護者の皆さまのお陰でとても素敵なクリスマスコンサートとなりました♪ありがとうございました！！！ 来年のクリスマスコンサートが今から楽しみです！！！                                                                                                                              In December all our preschool KIPS students went to the Minato Playhouse in Nagoya for our long awaited annual Christmas Concert. 秋のイベントと言えば遠足ですね。遠足当日は雨のお天気でしたが、子どもたちは雨を吹き飛ばす程の元気で、室内の遊具で思いっきり遊びました。少し暗いトンネルをちょっと怖がりながら通ったり、長いスロープをお友だちと一緒に楽しくお話しながら降りました。一番楽しかったのは、施設の真ん中にあるチャレンジタワーをみんなで登ったことです。塔のてっぺんに到着した子どもたちを待っていたのは、公園を一望に見渡せる素晴らしい景色でした。子どもたちも大興奮！！子どもたちは帰りの電車で「またモリコロパークに来たいな～」と話しながら帰って来ました。この日モリコロパークで過ごした一日が、子どもたち一人一人の思い出の1ページとして刻まれるといいなと思います。 The Hummingbirds went on a field trip to Moricoro Park and although it was a rainy day, it didn’t spoil the fun as the students could play indoors. They had lots of fun crawling through tunnels and running down slopes with their friends. The most exciting part of the day was climbing a huge tower with a spiral slope inside and once they reached the top, the students had a panoramic view of the park and surrounding area. It was such a fun day for the children and everyone said they would like to return again soon.

覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールでは毎年最高に楽しいハロウィーンパーティーを開催しています♪英語幼稚園ならではのイベントですね！ 子ども達も、先生達も、その日は、妖精やプリンセス、スーパーヒーローやおばけなど、色んな種類のコスチュームやオリジナルの衣装を着て登園します。毎年ベストコスチューム賞、ベストオリジナルコスチューム賞、一番怖いコスチューム賞、最高にユニークなコスチューム賞などの賞があります。今年も優勝者を選ぶのがとても難しかったです。パーティーではフェイスペインティングや、ポップコーンなどのお菓子を使い魔女の手を作るクッキングや、様々なゲームをしたり。先生達が作ったお化け屋敷ではキャーッという大きな叫び声がたくさん聞こえた楽しい一日となりました！！！ 名古屋市千種区の城山公園までコスチュームを着たまま仮装パレードをし、公園に着き、子ども達が英語で“Trick ‘o treating!!!”「トリック オア トリート!!!」と叫ぶと、お菓子がもらえます。みんなとても嬉しそうで、お友だち同士でコスチュームを見せ合っていました。今年も最高に楽しいハロウィーンパーティーとなりました♪     The Halloween Party at KIPS was a blast!!! We had so many students and teachers dress up in different and original costumes this year it was so difficult to choose the winner for our costume contest. From fairies to princesses, to superheros and ghouls, we all had a great time face painting, making popcorn witch hands, playing fun games and of course, scaring ourselves silly by visiting the haunted house. After a fancy dress parade to the nearby park we all did trick ‘o treating and showed off our costumes. What a ‘spook’tacular Halloween party!

This year’s sleepover event was full of swashbuckling fun! The theme was pirates and mermaids so boys enjoyed making a pirate hook craft and girls were adorable as mermaids with their own originally designed mermaid tail. We all ate dinner together followed by a walk in the dark to the local park to light fireworks. It was quite an exciting experience for many students! After sleeping all together in the school we woke up early and played a rip roaring exciting treasure hunt game to see who could open the treasure chest first. Welcome to a new school year at KIPS! Everyday the school is filled with the sound of children laughing, learning, playing together and having fun. This year we are very happy to meet some new students as well as greet familiar faces. The Eaglets are excited to be the leaders of the school and Hummingbirds are enjoying running at the Running Program. Parrots students are also very excited to see their new classroom and are adjusting to their new schedule with enthusiasm. Ducklings students this year are happy and very well adjusted.
