Students attend lessons 3 times a week for the purpose of studying Writing and Grammar, Reading and Listening and Creative Writing. We use the Oxford Discover textbook series for elementary students. These textbook series develop students comprehension and critical thinking skills through interactive and project based activities.

Speech Contest

Every year, all Elementary students participate in our annual Speech Contest. This highly anticipated event is always met with excitement. Students write and memorize their own original speech and present it in front of their classmates, teachers and family. The winner of the speech contest then has the opportunity to perform at the annual KIPS Christmas Concert. It is a very exciting event for all!

Tests

Elementary classes have official testing periods. These tests are customised for each class by the homeroom teacher and are administered twice a year.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

The school organises meetings between parents and teachers once a year. These meetings are a great way to discuss individual students and their goals, strengths and areas of concern.

Writing and Grammar

This class uses the Oxford Discover Grammar and Writing textbook and Spelling Workbook and is a highly academic class that focuses on English grammar and spelling. Students learn not only through writing, but also through fun and exciting activities such as arts, crafts, science and cooking for example, making a pinata, cooking pancakes or creating a ferris wheel.

Reading and Listening

This class focuses on improving students reading and listening skills through student-led discussions, weekly Show and Tell, as well as reading from Info Trail books tailored to their level. Students in this class are encouraged to use their dictionary and research new topics independently as much as possible.

Creative Writing

Using the Oxford Discover Writing and Spelling textbooks, these classes focuses on introducing students to the basics of creative writing by allowing them to express themselves through free writing, personal diaries and monthly project-based activities such as craft, cooking and presentations.

Advanced Class

This class is for the highest level graduates and is a small, tailored class based on high interest topics such as the Olympics, government, nature and pollution. Students are able to apply their critical thinking and problem solving skills while learning in a fun and stimulating environment.
