今月、覚王山インターナショナルスクールの年長から年少Eaglets・Parrots・Hummingbirdsクラスでは「Show and Tell（ショーアンドテル）」の活動として、お気に入りの英語絵本をスクールに持ってきてもらいました。

子どもたちは、大好きなストーリーや登場人物について、そして「どうしてこの本が好きなのか」を一人ひとり自分の言葉で発表しました。少し緊張しながらも、誇らしそうに本を見せてくれる姿がとても印象的でした。

Show and Tellは、英語でのスピーキング力・表現力・発表力を育てる大切な学びの時間です。人前で話す経験を重ねることで自信がつき、「英語で伝えることって楽しい！」という気持ちが自然と育まれていきます。また、お友だちの発表を聞くことでリスニング力や思いやりの心も養われます。

英語絵本に親しむことは、語彙力の向上だけでなく、読書習慣や想像力を育てる大切なステップです。今回の活動を通して、子どもたちの英語への興味・読書への愛情・自己表現の力がさらに広がったことを嬉しく思います。

Every month, our Eaglets, Parrots, and Hummingbirds classes enjoy a special activity called Show and Tell. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to practice speaking in English, build confidence, and share something meaningful with their friends. This month’s theme was “My Favorite English Book.”
Each child brought a favorite book from home and proudly introduced it to their classmates and teachers.

During their presentations, the children:

• said the book title
• showed the pictures
• talked about their favorite characters or parts
• and explained why they like the story

It was so heartwarming to see their excitement as they shared stories they love! Some children even remembered lines from the book or tried reading a few words by themselves.

Show and Tell helps develop:
🌱 speaking and listening skills
🌱 vocabulary and pronunciation
🌱 confidence in front of others
🌱 love for reading

Most importantly, it teaches children that their ideas and interests are important and worth sharing.

Thank you, parents, for helping your child choose a special book to bring. We loved seeing so many wonderful stories in our classrooms. We are already looking forward to next month’s Show and Tell theme.
