The Red Parrots class painted with fruits and vegetables in class. They enjoyed using a variety of different produce such as kale, okra, kiwis and even onions! By painting with vegetables, they discovered that it was fun to make unusual patterns. Some fruits and vegetables were big and some were small but they were all interesting to touch and paint with. What kind of patterns and shapes can you see?
On Wednesdays at Kakuozan International Preschool, teachers and students are busy with Grammar, Reading and Creative Writing lessons. Currently the students are working hard to prepare for their upcoming speech contests by writing and memorizing their speeches as well as adding exciting gestures and props.
Even though the weather is too hot to go outside, we still find time to play and move our bodies! Under the guidance of Ryan and Miho, the Red Parrots class enjoy practicing maneuvering a soccer ball around cones. It helps to build up their coordination and they enjoy cheering their friends on. Who can score a goal against a teacher?!
覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの年少さんクラスではレッスンが終わるサヨナラの時間、本日のサヨナラ担当が全員とサヨナラをします。子供達はそれぞれ①<バイバイと手を振る>②<ハイタッチ>③<ハグ>④<握手>の4つから選んでお友達とサヨナラをします。大好きなお友達とのサヨナラは特別。友情や子供達の優しい心が育っていきます。 In the Hummingbirds Class we select a “Goodbye Leader” every day. At the end of the lesson we choose how we want to say good bye to our friends with either a handshake, hi-five, hug or wave. We love to teach our students to be original and accept each others differences!
Summer is over but the memories of our summer interns is still fresh! This year we were very lucky to have four interns at our school. Yuuma returned for a second year and many students remembered him from last year. New this year was Kai from Canada, Ms Arata from Kikuzato High School and Ami from New Zealand. All our wonderful interns and volunteers spent time with our students, assisted with extended care, helped with reading and writing lessons as well as supervising play time. We hope that we see them again soon!
年少前の2-3歳児クラスでは夏の間プール遊びを毎週行っています。子供達は水が大好き！特に小さな子供達は五感をフルに使って様々なことにチャレンジすることが大切です。冷たい水を手や足で感じる、ジョウロから出る水の音の変化を聞く、キラキラ光る水面を見る、水の匂いを感じ、顔にかかった水の味を知って、水遊びだけでも様々な刺激がいっぱいです。 Our Ducklings and Hatchlings students love playing in the pool. It is fun and challenging for our little ones to explore and learn in different environments too. They all enjoyed paddling in the cold water, sprinkling each other and splashing around. We love summer!
年中さんクラスでは虹の色について学びました。「虹の中には何色が見える？」「青色と黄色を混ぜたら何色になると思う？」「1番好きな色はどれ？」「それはなぜ？」など先生が問いかけると子供達からさまざまな答えが返ってきます。年中クラスでも想像力や考える力を養うことを大切にしています。 今日は子供達みんなの手に絵の具をつけて虹を描くことになりました。インターナショナルスクールではこのハンドペインティングをよく行います。右手に黄色、左手に赤色を付けて混ぜるとなんとオレンジ色に！子供達は楽しみながら実際に体験をして学んでいきます。
小学生クラスのサイエンスの実験。紙コップと粘土、土で火山を作り重曹をその中に入れ、お酢を注ぎます。すると二酸化炭素が発生し噴火のように紙コップから吹き上がります。で、ここまでは普通の実験🧪 今回はお酢の温度をいろいろ変えてどの温度が一番噴火が激しくなるか予測し、実際に実験しました。
サマースクールの小学生クラスではスーパーサイエンスのレッスンを行いました。重曹にお酢を加えると二酸化炭素が発生します。これは覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの子供達は年長さんまでに実験しているので知っているので、今回は二酸化炭素をペットボトルの中で発生させてその二酸化炭素を逃さずに風船を膨らまして割れるかどうかの実験です。実験前にそれぞれが結果を予測して発表します。「泡が吹き出す」「風船が圧に耐えられず吹っ飛ぶ」「ちょっとしか膨らまない」など意見はいろいろ。みんな風船が大きくなるとドキドキです。さて結果は？
覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールのサマースクールではオリジナルのTシャツを毎週作ります。このレッスンでは子供達の考える力や想像力を伸ばすこと、英語が初めてのお子さんも英語で簡単なコミュニケーションが取れるようになることが目標です。 今週はスポンジを使って真っ白なTシャツに好きなように色をつけていきます。今回はみんなで相談し、ストライプのデザインにすることになりました。まずはTシャツにテープを貼り、その間を好きな色で着色していきます。ではどうやって色を塗っていきますか？という先生からの質問に「カラフルに塗る」、「色を混ぜて塗る」、「一本のラインの中を一色ではなくいろいろな色を使って塗る」と子供達のアイデアはつきません。ペイントが乾いたらテープを剥がすとストライプTシャツの出来上がりです。最高にカッコいいTシャツができあがりましたね！ This Summer School, we designed our own original t-shirts every week.
