We had a wonderful Halloween event last week. Everyone came to school with amazing, scary, cute and original costumes for a fun day of Halloween themed games and activities. After lunch we all walked to Shiroyama Field for trick or treating. It was a “spooktacular” day!

覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの子ども達が待ちに待ったハロウィンパーティの日がやってきました！子ども達はみんな思い思いの素敵な衣装で登園してくれました。プリンセスやスーパーマリオ、モンスターや魔女がいっぱい。ランチ後はみんなで城山公園へ仮装行列！Trick or Treat！今年も最高に楽しい1日を過ごしました！ We had a wonderful Halloween event last week. 覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの今月のテーマは「収穫」です。子ども達は野菜について学び、今日はその野菜で絵を描きました。ジャガイモ、セロリ、オクラ、レンコン、ゴーヤなどの野菜の名前を学び、切ったらどんな形をしているかを想像します。またどんな香りがするか実際に匂ってみます。子ども達は切った野菜のユニークな形を使って画用紙に色々な色で絵を描き、面白いアート作品が出来上がりました！ This month’s theme is “Harvest!” Children enjoyed learning about different vegetables and got a little messy with a fun painting activity. What kind of patterns could we make with potatoes, celery, okra, root vegetables and bitter melon!?

覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの子ども達は違う学年のお友達と一緒に学んだり、遊んだりする時間があります。異年齢の子ども達が一緒に遊ぶ中で、おもちゃを譲り合ったり、何かを教えてあげたり、教えてもらったり、思いやりを伝えたり、そうやって時間を一緒に過ごすことは子ども達の成長にも繋がります。年少者は年上のお友達の様子を見て憧れを持つこともあります。年長者は年下のお友達のお手伝いをすることで自分に自信を持つことも。これらを通して、協調性や社会性を学んでいきます。 We love playing all together at the Park and the Running Field. Eaglets and Hummingbirds are walking buddies and we help each other on the way there and back as well!

覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの年中Parrotsクラスでは本物のミミズの観察を行いました。子ども達は大興奮！頭はどっちかな？目はどこにあるのかな、口は？鼻は？耳はあるかな？何にでも興味を持ち、知りたいと思うことは学びの中でとても大切なことになります。ミミズの観察後は自然に帰しました。 Parrots class students were excited to see and play with real worms. Some children loved them whilst others were very apprehensive. After saying hello and watching them wriggle, we returned them to nature.

覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの年少前Ducklingsクラスでは指先の器用さ、モータースキルを養うレッスンを行いました。皆さんスキャモンの成長曲線をご存知ですか？初めて聞く方も多いと思います。子供が成長していく中、器官や機能はそれぞれ個々に発達していくとされており、一つの事柄においても吸収しやすい時期としにくい時期があるとされています。 その時期を曲線で示したものを｢スキャモンの発達・発育曲線｣と言います。この曲線にもあるように人間の神経系は生まれて５歳頃までに成人の８０％の成長を遂げ、１２歳までにほぼ１００％まで達すると言われます。器用さもその一つ。スクールでも画用紙で輪っかを作ったり細かい指の動きが必要なアクティビティをたくさん取り入れ子ども達と行っていきます。 Ducklings made paper chains in Halloween colors. With a little help from their teachers they carefully looped paper strips together and taped them together. This was a great activity to help build their little finger skills.

週一回近くのグランドに集合し、80メートルのトラックを1周から3周かけっこします。基礎体力をつけ、努力することやあきらめないこと、そしてチームワークを学びます。覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの子供たちは、3年間毎週朝走ることによって運動能力の向上も目指します！Hummingbirds Class go running every Tuesday morning! It helps to build up their stamina, strength and gross motor skills.

季節の工作〜好きな色を塗って想像力を養う〜 覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの年中Parrotsクラスは秋の王冠を作りました！葉っぱやドングリ、松ぼっくりに好きな色を塗って冠に貼り付けました。素敵な王冠が出来上がりました！ Parrots class children celebrated Fall by making their own Harvest Crown.They could color and cut all the leaves by themselves. Good job Parrots!

覚王山インターナショナルプリスクールの年長Eagletsクラスでは秋の工作で秋の木を作りました。画用紙を自分の手の形に切り取って色を塗り、木の幹を作りました。それに公園で拾ってきた色とりどりの葉っぱを自分の好きなように貼り付けました。素敵な木が出来上がりました！全ての工程を自分の力だけで完了することができました！Great job Eaglets!!! Eaglets class made a Fall tree. After collecting leaves from the park, we cut out an outline of our hand, painted it and then decorated all by ourselves! It was a lot of fun.
